Love Letter -

A letter to you from God through His word

January, 2004 "New Mercies For Today"

My Dear Children,

I have said in My Word through the prophet Isaiah, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" (Isaiah 46:18, 19)

Yes, if you are in Christ, you are a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. (1 Corinthians 5:17)

This encouragement is for you - for this new year, for each new day, for every new breath you take. For My mercies are new every morning. Come and bathe in the newness of life that is yours through the blood of My Son, Jesus.

I love you forever,
Your Heavenly Father

Love Lesson -

A lesson for life from God's word

January, 2004 "4 "R's" for 2004"

Happy New Year! Congratulations for making it through another year!

Isn't it interesting the many ways we celebrate and reflect on the passage of time? January 1st is only a second's difference from December 31st. And yet we have parties, stay up late and do all manner of things to mark the passing of the second hand from one year to the next. And what about our birthdays? Mine is coming up in a few days and I hope to celebrate the completion of another year - because I am very glad I will have lived another year!

I do enjoy holidays, anniversaries, birthdays and other special days of remembrance, and I love to do special and fun things to celebrate them. But as I have reflected on how we mark the passing of time, I am reminded that every new day is cause for celebration because of the wonderful mercies of God that are new each day. I am certainly glad for that. How about you?

I am asking the Lord this year to help me awaken each morning with a song in my heart and a determined purpose in my life. I want to suggest that you do the same.

In order to help you with this I would like to share with you 4 "R's" that you can incorporate into your daily attitude and life perspective. These 4 "R's" can be applied to every activity and area of your life to give more meaning, fun, purpose and fulfillment to your days.

These were actually shared by my fitness instructor during a STEP training and body sculpting class at the health club I belong to. Bev, our instructor, is a wonderful, full-of-energy encourager. It was at the end of a long and hard workout, as we were beginning to "fade" that she shared these 4 "R's" to get us through to the end.

I want to share them with you because I know that life can be hard, and we can run out of energy - physical, emotional and spiritual. So, we sometimes need help and encouragement to get us through to the end. I want to tell you that - you can make it….So, let me encourage you with these 4 "R's".

Retain NO RESERVE. Give 100% in everything you do, 100% of the time.

Keep pressing forward no matter the level of difficult or resistance. Allow yourself NO RETREAT.

RESOLVE to live every moment in the present.

And if you do this, at the end of the day you will have NO REGRETS.

Aren't these great? You can apply them to your marathon training, or your career, or to your marriage relationship or to any area of life. I believe these are very scripturally sound principles by which to live.

NO RESERVE - Give 100% of yourself to God. God wants all of us. We are to do everything as unto the Lord and He deserves our best at all times.

We are to have NO RETREAT - Against all persecution and tribulation, Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14, "Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

That leads right into the next "R". RESOLVE to live in the present. Paul didn't let his past immobilize him. He was known for hunting down and killing Christians in the name of God. You can't be consumed with guilt and regret over the past and live an effective life in the present moment. There is only one way we can be released from the past - from our sins and failings and from those of others against us. It is through the blood of Jesus. So, confess your sins, receive His forgiveness, put the past behind and resolve to live in His new mercy and grace, which is for you for right now, for this very moment you are in.

And if we do these things - live 100% for God, keep pressing on into Him and pursuing a life of love and holiness, confess our sins and receive His forgiveness so that we are free to live each new moment in His grace - then when we stand face to face with Jesus Christ, we will have NO REGRETS!

If you don't know the forgiveness of God in your life - if you have not yet experienced the new birth as His child into His kingdom, you can do it now. You can become a new creation, having old things washed away, in this new year and you can begin to live for Him.

Pray with me:
"Jesus, I have sinned. I have failed. I have fallen short. I know that the penalty for sin is death and separation from You. I don't want to be separated from You any longer. But I know that You paid the penalty, the price, for me. I know that You did this out of Your great love and because of Your grace and tender mercies. I know that You died, were buried and rose again to new life. I want to receive this new life. I confess my sins and receive forgiveness for my sin. I thank You that I am now forgiven and I am a new creation. I am now Your child. I thank You that You have come into my heart with Your life and given me new life - life eternal. I believe and receive.

I know that I am Yours and that I now will be with You forever. Help me to live my life for You. Help me to know You more. I want to be totally committed to loving and serving You. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit to lead and guide me. Amen."

If you prayed that prayer for the first time, then I welcome you to the family of God. Let me know by contacting me on the contact form. I would love to hear from you and help you walk this new life in Christ.

If you are already a Christian, you can RESOLVE to share this with others who need to know the love of God in Christ Jesus.

May the Lord bless you with His power and presence to live these 4 "R's" for Him.

L.O.V.E.,
Patty

Local Neighborhood L.O.V.E Clubs
Local neighborhood L.O.V.E. Clubs meet weekly in the homes of women. The format includes food, fun and fellowship centered around three main activities.

  • Worship
We believe the highest calling of all humans is to worship God - that's what we were made for! The Bible says that everything that has breath should praise the Lord. Jesus said that the Father is looking for worshipers who will worship Him in spirit and truth. So we spend the first part of our meeting time worshiping God in song and opening prayer.
  • Study
The Bible says that we should study to show ourselves approved. So an hour of our time is spent in studying the Bible, the word of God. Along with the Bible, we usually study a book that has current application to our lives - something we can apply to our real life experiences. The study of God's truth and application of His ways releases us into freedom from religious bondage and the bondage of habitual sin.
  • Prayer
The final part of our weekly meeting is set aside for a time of prayer. Very simply, prayer is communication with God. Communication is a two-way proposition so not only do we talk to God about our lives and ask Him for guidance, direction and healing - but we make sure we wait on Him for the answers so that we can do what He says.

CONFERENCE REPORT FOR:
The International L.O.V.E. Club Spiritual Growth Conference - October 25-26, 2002

Now More Than Ever....

The local Naperville group did such a wonderful job of organizing and hosting us. I thank you again ladies, very much!!! We got to hug some necks, meet some new people, see some hidden faces...and next time I am going to add our email addresses to our name tags along with our names!!! Oh, the adaptations that technology is causing us to make in our lives!!!

We had an awesome time of sharing the word of God. The message that the Lord had me bring is one of urgency in the spirit. He is calling us to be aware of the times and season in which we live. He wants us to be prepared for the things to come and He is very serious about us living a holy life before Him and the world.

He has been birthing and adding to this message since 9-11. Now More Than Ever...we must get to know our God, we must learn how to come into His presence and be changed so that we can bring His light and love to the world. Now More than Ever, we must be prepared so that we can partner with Him in prayer and service.

It is God's desire for us to each be walking in our calling - moving out into the purposes and plans of God for our lives. It is a serious thing to squander the gifts and talents He has given us. And when we are not obedient, the whole body of Christ suffers.

He is calling us to an intimate and personal relationship with Him that is characterized by obedience to His every word. All for Jesus for all eternity. He imparted an eternal perspective to our hearts, that makes every moment and every thought and word eternally significant.

Our dear sister, Purity, was able to make it in from Kenya. What a pleasure and a pleasant surprise. Her being able to get her VISA and an airplane ticket at the last minute was truly a miracle. She shared about her country, her life and the needs of the people in Kenya. Please pray for them and for the government. They so desire to be more free to worship the Lord. Purity prayed for us in her native tongue and we all were blessed by her spirit.

Terry McIntosh, from Boston, our intercessory team leader came in for the whole week that I was there. She is a jewel and we all are very fortunate to have her on our team. She can pray up a storm and pray in the peace of God, both!!! Terry shared a wonderful teaching on prayer that the Lord gave her. P - Prioritizing - making prayer our first priority every day. R - Relationship - the importance of developing intimacy with the Lord. A - Action - answering His call to intercede. Y - yielding - praying with faith/believing and expecting prayer will bring a yield.

Joy Yeager, from Pennsylvania, shared from one of her books called "Sow What?" a great check list on how we can discern if we are truly living a Christian life. She mentioned several areas where we tend to fall short (sin) such as gossip, pride, unforgiveness, jealousy, judgementalism...ouch! Then she asked us, "What will you be remembered for in your lifetime?" She also blessed us with several songs that just perfectly tied in with the messages the Lord was bringing to us.

Rynessa Oliverio, from Washington, shared some thoughts on communion. Beautiful revelations from the Lord about covenant and the marriage relationship and how when we receive the Lord's supper and remember Him through it, we are committing to that covenant relationship the we have with Him. It really brought a deeper meaning to the intimacy of the act of sharing in communion. And the focus on the Body of Christ that we are all part of - in unity of purpose with Him - brought true fellowship amongst us as we worshipped our Lord together and served one another the elements of bread and juice which symbolize the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Hap Wysocki, who came with me from Arizona, is the head of the King's Daughter's Ministries. Hap presented in drama, several women from the scriptures. She was the Prophetess from Israel sharing a word from God about our times and seasons. She was the woman with the issue of blood that was healed with one touch of the Master's garment. She was Mary Magdaline who had been the first to see Jesus, and the first to be commissioned by our Lord, to go and tell....she very pointedly asked, "Have you seen Jesus?"

And of course, we were totally blessed by the "Signs of The Heart Choir" led by Beverly McKeen and assisted by Michelle Kanis. They were accompanied by two very special young women...Louise and Katie (she is 14). We were lifted up to new dimensions of worship as we watched their sign language and movement carry us into the presence of God. And we also had the wonderful opportunity of learning to do some simple worship signs ourselves. We all moved into a new level of freedom as we concluded our workshop with the song "Shackles" by Mary Mary...We did "get loose" and had fun!!!

Our two worship team members Denise Mikkelsen and Lisa Davidson were just so precious. And we all were able to experience new depths of the presence of God as the anointing of the intimate presence of Jesus and His love filled our hearts.

God truly came to meet us in this place. He is so faithful to show up when there are hungry hearts for Him. I know that many were touched and deep areas of hurt were healed and the Lord gave new freedom to some in place of bondage, new hope in place of despair, new vision in place of purposelessness. We all came away more full of the LOVE and power of God through the Holy Spirit, and were truly changed in a permanent way.

If you are interested in receiving tapes of the meetings, please write to me personally and I will send you information on how to do that.

Also, my prayer for you is that you receive all the blessings of the Lord that were poured out upon us. God desires to touch you in the same way. May you receive directly from His hand...

L.O.V.E.,
Patty
